Best 15 month CD rates paying 2.25% APY
We were recently tipped off on a nice 15 month promotional CD (certificate of deposit) being offered through Country Bank for Savings. We believe this to be the highest yielding CD for a 15 month duration in the country (if you know of a higher yield, please share!). Currently when you invest a minimum of $500 into Country Bank for Savings “15 Month Relationship Certificate” you can earn an extremely competive APY of 2.25%.
As with most promotional CD offers there is somewhat of a catch. With this particular offer you must also hold a $1,000 monthly average balance in a CBS checking account with monthly direct deposit(s) in any deposit account.
Other Promotional Offers available through Country Bank for Savings with qualifying CBS Checking Account:
- 6 month CD yielding 1.85% APY with minimum deposit of $500 required
- 24 month CD yielding 2.50% APY with minimum deposit of $500 required
Without opening one of their CBS checking accounts you can still obtain decent deposit rates. Their CD rates for standard CDs are as follows:
| CD - 5 month (152 days) |
1.49 | 1.50 | |
| CD - 6 month (182 days) |
1.59 | 1.60 | |

| CD - 11 month (334 days) |

15 month CD “special” rate through Enterprise Bank of South Carolina
Enterprise Bank of South Carolina has two pretty substantial offers on their promotional CD (certificate of deposit) products.
As of August 10, 2009, Enterprise Bank is offering a 15 month promotional CD yielding 2.50% APY as well as a 27 month promotional CD yielding 3.25% APY. The national average for 12 month CDs sits at roughly 1.70% APY and the national average for 24 month CDs sits at roughly 2.05% APY (to put these promotional products in perspective).
Surprisingly enough they do not mention any sort of minimum deposit amount associated with their CD products on their rates page, however, I would venture to guess it’s between $500 and $1000. If you have experience with this bank and know what the minimum deposit requirements are, please share by leaving a comment.
Although Enterprise Bank has online banking options, you cannot open these certificate of deposits online, therefor it may be difficult to invest in one of these if you reside outside of South Carolina.
They have branch locations and ATMs in the following cities: Bamberg, Barnwell, Blackville, Cottageville, Denmark, Edisto Island, Ehrhardt, Ridgeville, Springfield, Walterboro, and Williston.

15 month certificate of deposit “Special” through Bank Six
Most of you probably haven’t heard of Bank Six (or Bank VI), a small, 2 branch bank located in Kansas. However, if you happen to reside in Kansas and are looking for a 12-24 month CD yielding an exceptional rate then this may be your best play.
Currently BankVI has a few “Special” CD rates which are only available for a limited time. The most notable of these products is their 15 month CD which is yielding an exceptional APY of 2.80% with a minimum deposit of $500.
BankVI’s Certificate of Deposit Terms and Conditions:
All CDs are available as IRAs, and all CDs with a maturity of 1 year or more, compound quarterly. CD’s with less than a year maturity pay simple interest at maturity.
A substantial penalty may be imposed for early withdrawals on all BANK VI Certificates of Deposit.
Investment in a CD requires $500 minimum to open and earn interest — $100,000 maximum per customer, except where noted.
All depositors are federally insured as Member FDIC. Certain restrictions do apply, so inquire before making any investment.

Greater Warren Credit Union CD Rates (Ohio)
6 month CD - 1.75% APY
12 month CD - 2.25% APY
15 month CD (SPECIAL) - 3.00% APY
48 month CD - 2.75% APY
60 month CD - 3.50% APY
Certificates of deposit, in general, are experiencing a unique and dramatic lull as far as rates are concerned. If you have been a frequent BankVibe reader you probably noticed our (sometimes successful) quest for 3.0% returns. In some instances we have been successful in scrounging up those rates for 18 month, 12 month and even (in one instance) 6 month maturities, however, they are very few and far between. Typically when we do discover them they are offered through local credit unions and banks which have strict geographical restrictions on who can become a member.
To find the best CD rates nationally available review our CD rates tables, or if you are searching for the BEST rates available you can dig through our archive titled “best cd rates” (upperleft). Again, the best CD rates usually vary from state to state.

15 month CD special by Fort Financial Credit Union
…So here is the latest in BankVibe’s quest for 3.0% APY FDIC insured investments: Fort Financial Credit Union out of North Carolina is offering customers using new money a 15 month CD yielding 3.05% APY (if you are already banking with them and cannot fund this account with new money they will still offer you a respectable 2.75% for the same 15 month duration.)
It’s a bit discouraging to say the least that we can’t get over this 3.0% APY hump that seems to be in place for shorter term deposits, but local credit unions and banks are constantly running CD rate promotions that will at least crush the current national averages.
To sign up for Fort Financial Credit Union’s “Spring Savings Special” CD rates you must first become a member. Like many credit unions there are geographical restrictions in place for membership.
If you live in the following cities you may be eligible for membership:
Corinth, Mississippi
Fort Wayne, Indiana
Gastonia, North Carolina
Janesville, Wisconsin
Marion, Indiana
Morganton, North Carolina
South Beloit, Illinois
See more details on who can join.
If you know of a short term deposit (6 - 18 months) yielding 3.0% PLUS please let us know about it by leaving a comment!
