Citi ThankYou Preferred Credit Card Review

OFFER ENDED– Visit our credit card center for update offers from CitiBank.

A couple weeks ago we noted Citi Bank’s ThankYou Premier Credit Card which was (and still is) offering a $200 sign up bonus in gift cards after your first $1,000 in purchases. Today we are highlighting another lucrative offer from Citi Bank’s credit card family which is named almost the same. This card is called the Citi ThankYou(SM) Preferred Card and it comes with the following benefits and rewards:

1) $50 gift card – Redeem 6,000 bonus ThankYou® points after $300 in purchases within 3 months of account opening

2) 0% Intro APR on Purchases and Balance Transfers for 15 months. After that, the APR will be 12.99%-20.99% variable based on creditworthiness*

3) 5 ThankYou Points for every $1 you spend on purchases during the first 12 months and 1 point for every $1 you spend thereafter*

4) Enjoy no limit on the number of points you can earn

5) Redeem ThankYou Points for merchandise, travel rewards, gift cards, cash and more

6) No annual fee

Over the last few years, Citibank has positioned itself as the industry leader in low interest credit cards – either as a primary credit card or a balance transfer credit card.  If you’ve been in the market for – or are in the market for – a card outside this periphery, then unless Citi is running a special promotional offer such as this one, you may want to choose another issuer. Although Citi excels in low APR’s and balance transfers it lags behind in many other prominent credit card categories. Outside of their special offers, you will probably be hard pressed to find Citi cards being regularly used for their rewards structure and bonus opportunities as those features are generally limited.

i think citibank has branded themselves around rewards and special offers. i dont necessarily think of “low apr” when i think of citibank as you mentioned – not to say their cards dont offer that feature sometimes.
