Citi Simplicity Credit Card Review

June 13th, 2011 Posted in Credit Cards

Here’s a credit card that lives up to it’s name – the Citi Simplicity Card.

It features a 0% APR for both balance transfers and purchases for an industry leading 18 months. And it’s terms and conditions are extremely straight forward. (see below)

If you’ve racked up some debt and have been getting punished with high interest rates spread across multiple credit cards you may want to simplify things a bit by transferring your debt to a balance transfer card like the Citi Simplicity offer. By doing this, you’ll get 18 months in which you will incur absolutely no interest. This will allow you to pay down your principle at an accelerated pace. After your 18 month period is over you’ll incur a variable APR of between 12.99% and 21.99%. Usually cards determine this APR by using a function based on prime rate and your credit score.

The Citi Simplicity Card comes with forgiving deadlines as well. There are no late fees OR rate hikes when you miss a payment due date or go over your credit limit. This can be a very refreshing feature for those that frequently get nailed by missing due dates by a day or two. Plus, when you need to speak to a representative from CitiBank you’ll get 24/7 live access to actual people rather than automated responses.

Citi Simplicity Credit Card Features:

  • 0% Intro APR on Balance Transfers and Purchases for 18 months. After that, the variable APR will be 12.99% – 21.99% based on your creditworthiness.
  • Peace of mind through direct access to a service representative, no late fees and no penalty rate
  • No annual fee

This article is not true. I’ve had this card for 12 years. A couple of yeras ago they raised my rate from 11% to 23.9% and would give me no reason. My credit score was 830. I’ve been a few days late a couple of times on some minsicule payments because I misplaced the envelope and forgot. One was a $20 payment. They just whacked $20,000 off my credit limit and raised my APR to 29.9%. Yeah they waved a $25 late fee. But I’m trashed with this card because of an oversight. I’ve probably run 1/4 of a million dollars through this card without ever missing a payment. I’ll never use it again now. All because I misplaced my staement They’ve made me feel like a criminal.
