Chase Bank is offering new customers a $100 sign up bonus when you set up a direct deposit OR make five debit card purchases.

Thanks to BankVibe reader Matt for bringing this deal to our attention. Look familiar? It should, because WaMu is offering an almost identical offer with their “WaMu Free Checking Account.”

As you may already know, WaMu is undergoing the integration process with Chase and will soon be synonymous with Chase Bank, so I suppose it’s fitting that Chase throws out a lucrative checking account offer of their own.

How to collect your $100 from your new Chase Checking Account:

Follow this promo link and type in your email address
Chase Bank will then email you a promotion code
Print out the email you receive (with the promo code) and bring it in to your nearest Chase Bank
Open your new Chase Checking Account and make either 5 debit card transactions or 1 direct deposit

Is there any difference between this checking account bonus and the one offered by WaMU?

I think the only difference is that the WAMu one expires one week before chase’s bonus. The other is that Wamu’s account could be limited to California residents only, while the bank bonus from Chase is nationwide.
