Chase typically runs these promotions every quarter to drum up new business. The bonus amount fluctuates between $50 and $200 depending on the type of checking account you sign up for. Lately, however, Chase has been only offering these bonuses in isolated regions throughout the country via email (or snail mail) marketing campaigns.
If you decide to open a Chase checking account you’re going to want to keep your eye on the fees associated with it (especially if you plan on keeping a low balance).
2012 Chase Bank Fees:
Chase Student Checking – No fee while enrolled in a college or university. $6 monthly fee after graduation unless a direct deposit is set up.
Chase Total Checking – This is their most basic checking account. To avoid a $10 monthly fee you will need to have either a $1,500 average daily balance, a direct deposit set up of $500 or more, or over $5,000 in additional Chase bank accounts.
Chase Premier Plus Checking – Avoid a $25 monthly fee unless you have at least $15,000 in additional accounts with Chase.
Chase Premier Platinum Checking – Avoid a $25 monthly fee unless you have at least $75,000 in additional accounts.

As you may already know, WaMu is undergoing the integration process with Chase and will soon be synonymous with Chase Bank, so I suppose it’s fitting that Chase throws out a lucrative checking account offer of their own.
