Best Frequent Flyer Credit Card Deals in 2011
Since the credit card market has been flooded with spectacular rewards cards this year, we thought we’d continue with our coverage of this by summing up the best airlines (or frequent flyer) credit card offers in 2011. If you happen to be in the market for a new credit card and are contemplating finding one to supplement you’re regular flying you’ll be pleased to know you have a plethora of offers available to you.
The beauty of airlines miles cards is that you rack up miles (or points) every time you spend AND you can generally rack up points at an even higher rate when you make “travel type purchases.” These can include paying for airline tickets, rental cars, hotel stays and even entertainment.

That is more than enough for two round-trip transatlantic flights simply for opening the card and spending $2,500 in 3 months. Two of these roundtrip tickets with British Airways would cost well into the several thousands of dollars at retail price. On top of those rewards you’ll get 2.5 BA miles for every dollar spent on British Airways purchases as well as 1.25 miles on all other purchases. 2) - Terms Have Changed - Ok, so maybe you’re not a transatlantic regular and you’d rather have a frequent flyer card that offers massive rewards for domestic flights. The Chase Continental Airlines offer is just that card. Here is what you’ll get: For starters, this card offers you $50 cash back after your very first purchase, then they’ll throw 25,000 bonus miles at you as a thank you for opening the account (to put this in perspective, 30,000 miles are more than enough for a roundtrip ticket anywhere in the continental US). And on top of those up-front rewards you’ll also receive 2 miles for every $1 spent on Continental purchases, 1 mile for every $1 spent on all other purchases, the first bag you check will be free (which could equate to up to $200 in bonuses for a family), lounge access and no fee for the first year.
3) - Terms Have Changed - This American Airlines frequent flier card comes with some phenomenal domestic flying bonuses as well. With this card you’ll get 30,000 American Airlines AAdvantage bonus miles after $750 in purchases within the first 4 months of card-membership. This is more than enough for a round-trip domestic travel award. You’ll also earn 1 AA frequent flyer mile for every $1 spent on all purchases and the $50 annual fee is waived for your first year.
